Blair is a music producer and mixing engineer with over a decade of experience working for the likes of Universal Music, Sony, and The Disney Company to name a few. He was signed as an artist/producer in 2011 to Capitol/Virgin Records specializing in capturing a modern, clean, commercial sound. He was recently nominated to a Grammy for his work in Travis Scott’s album Astroworld.
He also thrives internationally in the K-Pop market, recently co- producing a track of South Korea’s top boy group EXO’s recent album “OBSESSION” which debuted at #1 on major music charts across the globe including iTunes.

General

KSS25 is a songwriting camp offered by UMSIC MUSIC. It includes 6 weeks worth of masterclasses and a 3-week writing camp at the end. This is also a great opportunity to hone your production, writing, and collaboration skills.
Well-established producers and songwriters in the K-pop industry are invited by Umsic Music to share their knowledge and insight in KSS25. The instructors would be Papi Lee, Gingerbread, Kirsten Collins, and Blair Taylor.
The masterclasses would also include Q&A and breakout sessions.
Umsic Music Production (UMP) producers and topliners will be giving in-depth lectures on specific topics such as production and toplining.
KSS25 members will be assigned to groups of a similar skill level. Each group will write multiple songs in a collaboration effort. Good songs will be selected to be pitched in K-Pop labels and will be added to Umsic Music Catalogue for future pitches as well.
KSS25 is open to all members of different skill levels. Although we do suggest that some basic knowledge in DAW is encouraged in order to fully utilize the programs and channels established within KSS25. Beginners will be offered special bonus DAW classes, while intermediate and advanced level members will be eligible to join UMP after the camp and will be grouped with other members who are advanced during the songwriting camp.
All live sessions will be recorded and will be available for KSS25 members until 6 weeks after the entire program. Members who do not wish to continue with KSS25 after the 21-day trial period will not have access to the recordings after the said trial period.

Collaboration and Pitching

Yes. UMSIC MUSIC has extensive connections in the K-Pop industry. Once a demo is fully completed, selected tracks will be pitched through our connections to publishers or labels that best fit the song.
Yes, members can pitch their songs independently. However, we ask that you allow Umsic Music to exclusively pitch the song for at least 6 months, up to 12 months, to ensure maximizing the best opportunities and avoiding duplicate pitches. If any personal pitch opportunities arise within the mentioned period, simply communicate with us to make flexible arrangements to keep all parties informed.
Royalties will be fairly split between the writers. With some exceptions, the percentage will be determined based on contributions. If the song gets placed, lyrics splits will be confirmed (typically between 12~15% in Korea) and then the Producer/Songwriter splits will be adjusted in the same ratio from the original percentage based on 100%.
We advise participants to register with a Performance Royalty Organization (PRO) within their region or country if they still need to do so, as soon as possible to be able to move forward with the placement process & royalty collection. Umsic Music will handle all publishing and royalty collection on behalf of the participant and the production fees paid by the purchasing label will be shared fairly to the writers who were part of the song.
